Our school is situated in an enviable position just one kilometer from the sandy beaches of Bournemouth, yet only 500 metres from the varied and interesting shopping centre of Westbourne. In this suburb you will find banks, a post office, international restaurants, classic English pubs and a variety of retail outlets to satisfy every taste. Bournemouth town centre is 1.5 kilometers to the east and Poole 3 kilometers to the west. These towns are world famous as international resorts and sailing centres and yet a serious attitude to study prevails with the Bournemouth University and Bournemouth and Poole College of further education catering for over 30,000 English students. Bournemouth has been the host town for students of English as a foreign language for more than 50 years and has therefore developed an infrastructure of good family accommodation, quality language schools and first class recreational and cultural facilities
Host families are selected for their friendliness as well as their experience in taking care of foreign visitors. After the initial inspection by our Accommodation Officer they are regularly reinspected by the school. The well being of all our students is a prime consideration of our school. To this end, there is a full time welfare officer available to give advice and help on matters concerning the students' stay in England. Accommodation is part board Monday to Friday, with the addition of snack lunches Saturday and Sunday. Hot and cold meals are available in the school restaurant during the week. The school can also recommend guest houses or hotels. The area is renowned for its quality and range of hotel accommodation.
The school prides itself on being able to offer a full and varied programme. A relaxed student social life is important for the mind to be able to absorb and retain what is studied in the classroom. Sports such as football, table- tennis and beach volleyball are organised by the staff. Public tennis courts, tenpin bowling, swimming, championship ( and beginners) golf and squash are all easily accessible and near the school. As Bournemouth is a seaside town the popular sports of windsurfing and sailing are easily available. Guided full day excursions are run on a regular basis to places such as London, Bath, Oxford and the Dorset Coast. Weekend trips are arranged to Cornwall, Wales, Ireland and London two or three times a year. An excursion of one-week duration to Scotland is offered in April and September. We also provide many disco parties, pub tours to the beautiful New Forest, theatre visits, international party evenings and other similar events.
